Derailed

Vance sighed softly, his breath misting up in the frigid air. "Its alright, like I said no questions asked." He patted her on the shoulder as a good gesture. "Although I don't consider you killing me a form of 'helping' me. The way you say it its almost as if your hoping for the end, am I right?" He stood back and awaited her response.

Maigo again stood silent for a good 15 seconds but still kept her gaze on Vance. "I'm hoping for the end of a lot of things." she finally replied in the same weak tone of voice as she turned her gaze away from Vance and looked off to the side.

Vance looked off to the side. "Well what now then?" He turned back and looked at her.

Mmh...I haven't any news about Reks' whereabouts... she tapped her fingers on her crossed arms still staring into oblivion before turning back to look at Vance. Or that ..Kin guy let alone Savris.. her eyes narrowed. I could kill Vance while his guard's down!! THEN I'll get it over with! she quickly took a step towards him before stopping herself. ...divided into two halves...one who cares and one who doesn't. Which one is right? He's going to get in my way if I want to finish off Reks once and for all! she let out a disgruntled sigh with her own breath leaving no fog, as it was almost as cold as the air itself. Her mind was in a train-wreck of thought.

"You probably have something important to do don't you?" she queried.

Vance had studied her eye movements, as they had darted to different corners of her eyes, each one revealing a different thought. She still wants to kill me... "No nothing in particular. Although it seems that you have some important plans." He unconsciously felt his chest where the bandage was at.

"You'd best keep your guard up." her entire body tightened as she stiffly took another step towards Vance as she looked at his wound. Maigo hadn't the strength to smile, not even produce a one-sided one but if she had, Maigo would most likely be smiling right now. I...hindered my own "plans"... she thought as she studied the bandage. "If you take yourself being injured this much so casually, then you'll take death just the same."

Why? He would already be dead if I would have left him laying on the ground.

Despite her words, she hadn't bothered to summon her rapier nor take another step towards him. I wanted this to be over quickly!

Vance took another step back, bumping into a brick wall behind him. [i]No where left to run... "I won't take death with open arms and a house-warming present if that's what you mean." His werewolf side was starting to take over, and he didn't know how long he could hold it off.

Maigo took a step or two more towards him until he was in arm's length of her. "Regardless, I won't waste anymore time." She summoned her rapier and suddenly lunged at Vance thrusting her rapier towards him in an attempt to deal a fatal blow to the heart.

He ducked quickly and lunged at her, attempting to knock her over with a solid blow to the chest.

No way..! she was caught off-guard by his impressive reflexes and therefore hadn't the time to block as the blow landed on her chest and she was knocked on her back. She kept her grip on her rapier firm. I shouldn't underestimate him.. she coughed once before slowly sitting back up, waiting for his next move. I haven't fought him before...head-to-head that is. I can't fight someone if I don't know their fighting style.

Vance circled Maigo, looking for a chance to attack. Gotta keep the strikes controlled, harm but don't kill... He studied her movements to try and calculate her fighting style.

Maigo stood there impatiently as Vance circled her. Come on...what's he doing? she thought. Then she seemed to feel the will to kill him slowly fade away.. Damn! Forget it, I need to end it now!

She knew she would be making a bad decision fighting an enemy who's fighting style she knew nothing about, but she had no choice at the moment. Maigo rested both her arms by her side and stood there silently for a few moments before flitting behind Vance, immediately swinging her rapier at his torso. She quit focusing on strength in her swing and more on speed and agility so she could attack quicker as well as dodge more effectively. The quicker I wear him down the quicker I can deal the finishing blow..

Vance was sliced in two instantly. Or rather his after image was. He appeared behind Maigo and attempted to put her in a sleeper hold.

Maigo quickly turned around when she immediately found out that she had sliced his afterimage and, since Vance was nowhere in sight in front of her, she knew he had to be behind her. She quickly ducked and sent two quick swings at his legs.

Vance jumped up and kicked down sharply, attempting to knock Maigo over.

Maigo quickly dodged to the right then jumped back a few feet away from Vance to get some room. I'm getting nowhere, I'd better change things up a bit.. She spread her wings (which had now been relatively free from aching from earlier), jumped up then flew directly at him ready to unleash a flurry of swings as soon as she approached him. He's not bad, I haven't had a good fight like this in so long.

A gun shot went through the air and small crystals of ice fell down unto where Vance and Maigo were dueling. "That is enough!" Rek's yelled as he stalked toward them, his boots trampling the ground below him. He looked at the both of them, taking out his sword also. "What in the hell are you two doing!?" he yelled and looked at Maigo taking a few steps toward her. "Whats wrong with you Maigo?"

She abruptly stopped in mid-flight thus having her land roughly on her stomach instead of her feet. She felt as though her heart had stopped beating in her chest --- if only that were true. Maigo extended her left arm into the air as if she was trying to grasp something invisible before she slammed it into the small pile of snow on the ground. She stood back up brushing off the front of her clothes. She stared aimlessly in front of herself. Maigo knew the situation at hand although it took her a little while to fully let it soak in. This is...exactly the thing I was trying to avoid.. she thought. She turned around and looked at Vance, trying to avoid making eye-contact with Reks. Technically, she was outnumbered even though she had not yet tried to fight them both at the same time; but she knew if she tried that the result would not be good...for her, most likely. She slowly opened her right hand, her rapier dropped to the ground and disappeared. Maigo stuck her hands in the jacket she was wearing (that was originally Vance's, but she had forgotten to take it off when fighting him) and once again stared at the ground. She, in general, was acting like a 6 year old that had broken a very expensive vase in the house and was preparing for some sort of punishment.

Perhaps the Maigo that had that "intense bloodlust" had gone..for now atleast. Right now she had nothing to say as she was very confused at this situation. She was slightly embarrassed although she didn't know it and she didn't know quite why she was, but at the same time she had no regrets.



What do I do now?

Vance breathed heavily, his breath misting up. "Reks, long time no see eh?" He laughed quietly. "I think everything's fine, more or less." He glanced at Maigo and, noticing that she seemed to settled down, put out his hand to help her up. "That's twice now, maybe you could hold off the killing and we can forgive and forget, kay?

Maigo stood there silently for a few seconds before taking off her jacket and putting it in Vance's hand, though she was looking at Reks' face, wincing each time she looked in his eyes. "I don't need it anymore. Thanks." she said almost as casually as though nothing had happened. She purposely didn't respond to Vance's statement as she couldn't answer to it truthfully.

She took a step back away from where Reks was as though she was fearful of him, or trying herself to refrain from killing him.

She stepped back a few steps again, removing Reks' hand from her shoulder. He's...right there.. she opened her mouth so she could summon her rapier once again (despite it being that she was the one who let it disappear again in the first place), but words failed to come out. Maigo had very little to say, yet so much to do although she seemed to have tremendous difficulty in carrying out her "plans". What exactly was she supposed to say in a situation like this?

"N..No." was the answer she managed to squeeze out from her throat which had now, to her, felt somewhat constricted.

Vance set his hand on Reks' shoulder. "You don't need to drill her for answers. I'm not dead and apart from things being a little out of the norm, things are alright."

His head looked behind him to see Vance. "Are you joking? She almost killed you and if I didn't come along when I did, one of you would have been dead by now." He looked Maigo again, wondering what in the hell had gotten into her.

She once again tried to take a step back, but failed because for some reason, she couldn't move. She shut one eye as though from some kind of pain. Maigo could only look at Reks' face that, now wasn't a very calming sight to behold being that he wasn't really in the best mood. His stare practically held her in place. "W-well..there's not really much else to say..I already answered your question; nothing happened." she said dryly. What was she thinking? That was an obvious lie. If nothing had happened then she wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. She winced before quickly correcting herself, "I mean..nothing serious ofcourse..." she had Vance's wound that went through from his back to his chest in mind, but he had classified it as it being rather minor, so that obviously wasn't much of a big deal now was it?
