The Return

Maigo heaved a sigh of relief as her facial expression relaxed. She looked down at the shaky child as she gave him a look as if to say "Don't worry, I'm here."

She took a few steps forward, motioning to the boy with her hand to follow her. The boy quickly followed, hanging onto her clothing knowing that the human was nearby. She followed Reks into the next room.

The room they entered was sky blue, with a white carpet. A bed for a child was on the side, there was one small window which was in the side, but it was covered by a dark purple curtain. "This was my room long ago.... he can sleep here if you want him to." He said softly

Maigo looked around. She was a bit unsure of how to respond to Reks, noting his previous behavior.

She looked down at the child with a reassuring smile. "You think this is a good room for you to sleep in?" she asked the boy, softly. The boy slowly let go of her clothing as he walked around the room, the bread he had been nibbling on was now fully eaten. He looked around, smiled at Maigo but looked at Reks with a more serious expression on his face. The boy walked over to Maigo with a nervous expression on his face. "Hey, if you're still feeling a little scared, I can be in here with you when you want to sleep." she reassured him. The boy once again smiled, but didn't go to bed just yet, as he had just slept.

Maigo looked over at Reks. "He looks like he'll enjoy this room." she hesitated for a bit. "Thanks." she tried not to mutter. She motioned to the boy to go over to Reks, but the boy just went to Maigo's side, clinging onto her clothing. She placed her hand on the back of his head and sighed softly.

Rek's took a step forward and knelt down to the boy, reaching back he took out a light black object, a small black toy rabbit. "This was my brothers once, now its yours" He put it in front of him. "You have to take care of it, alright?"

Vance watched the scene and then walked out. The old throbbing sensation in his temple had come back, and he wanted to see if he could find something for it. A hazy memory passed through his mind, blood, gore, his mother, weeping, and the killer. He walked into another room and slumped onto the floor against a wall, trying to force out the memories. "Dang, I thought I was done with this crap..."

The boy looked at Reks with an unsure expression on his face, but slowly put out his arm and prodded it.

...Nothing Happened...

The child picked it up, looked at Reks then slowly nodded once. Maigo patted him on the head, smiling.

Vance has been acting rather..weird..lately.. she thought. I should go check up on him to see if everything's alright.

She started to head towards the door out of the room when she noticed that the boy was still clinging onto her clothing, following her everywhere she went. She bent down and looked at the child eye-to-eye. "You know how you got to know the person who just walked out, right? His name is 'Vance'." she said. "This person's name..." she began, pointing at Reks. "...is Reks. He's not that bad once you get to know him." she said, smiling. The boy however just looked at the ground. "Don't worry, I'm always right by you. Nothing bad is gonna happen." she said, kneeling back up. "I gotta go check on Vance, alright? You stay in the room and explore it a little. I'll still be here." she said as she started to walk out the room and head towards where Vance was. The boy had slowly let go of her clothing and walked to the corner of the room, still looking at Reks.

Vance grimaced at the throbbing. It was becoming more intense by the second and kept bringing back one memory, repeating over and over again, burning out at the end like an old film reel.

Maigo walked into the room Vance was. "Va-" she stopped in mid-sentence as she saw Vance slumped against the wall. "Hey!" she yelled to him as she knelt down in front of him, taking note if his painful expression. "Are you alright?!"

He heard Maigo yell and he looked at the boy, he had to keep him in here. "Stay here, everything will be fine." He looked back, worried.

Vance heard the voice but didn't know where it was coming from. The throbbing was becoming unbearable, and then a flash. The lab. The tests. The surgery ward. The throbbing finally took over, and he collapsed to the floor.

The boy had recognized the source of the yell, and grew worrisome. However, both Maigo and Reks had told him to stay in the room as well say that everything would be alright, so he stayed put.

"VANCE!?!" she yelled in surprise. She shook him a bit to see if he would wake up. "Hey, Vance..c'mon!" she said to him, still gently shaking him. "Damnit what just happened?"

His eyes widened as he heard a collapse. "Stay here!" He ran to the door and saw Vance on the floor. "What happened!?"

She quickly looked at Reks. "I don't know! I just came in here and saw him slumped against the wall and then a few seconds later he passed out!" she explained with her eyes widened and an expression of concern on her face.

He went down to Vance, his eyes seemed to be strained.
"He said something about his past..." images of himself falling to the floor from memories flashed through his mind. "I think I might know how to get him up, although he'll hurt for few minutes." He took out his pistol and cocked it open, drawing a small piece of pure blue ice. He closed it and put it back. "hold him" he said as he pricked open his skin with his nail and dropped the small piece into his cut.

Maigo said nothing, but did as Reks said, holding Vance up. "What do you plan on doing..?"

He looked at her. "Hold him as hold him so he can't MOVE" He sighed. "You'll see in a sec"

Maigo sighed back, holding Vance down.

Suddenly, his arm shot out and wrenched Maigo's hand off. "I'm fine." He stood up and walked off towards the end of the hall. He didn't know what was going on, only that he didn't need to be near anyone.

"Vance!" Rek's yelled out. "Stay here! That thing I put in your system is part of the bullets I use! In a minute you will feel immense pain!"

He turned around, his eyes turned a deep blood red. "I'm FINE." He stepped into an apparently vacant room at the end of the hall and sat down, shutting the door behind him. Then the pain started to kick in, jarring him to his senses.

Maigo flit over to the door to the room that Vance had entered, opened it and immediately saw Vance.

"What's gotten into you?" she asked in shock.

"What are you talking about? How should I know, all I know is this REALLY HURTS." He indicated the crystal fragment lodged under his skin.

"That means it's working..." she muttered. "Don't you remember? You were acting kind of..'scary' earlier."

"All I remember is that my head was throbbing and then I got a few flashbacks and now I'm here in pain." He dug the crystal out, wiping away the blood with a cloth.

Something about his past, eh? ..he probably doesn't want to talk about it. she thought.

"Well the way I see it is that you were in the room slumped against the wall. I was yelling your name but you didn't say anything in response. Reks came in, then put that thing in your skin...then you became like a completely different person altogether.." she said with a straight face.
